Ways To Make Homemade Facial Chemical Peels

Alpha hydroxyl acids (AHA) and Beta hydroxyl acids (BHA) are chemical exfoliants that are derived from various organic sources such as citrus fruits, willow barks and sugar cane. Both of these exfoliants are used in superficial chemicals peels as they helps to buff away the dead skin cells present on the surface of the skin to reveal a healthier looking skin from beneath.

These chemical peels are available these days in different kinds of preparations such as dermatologist administered, less concentrated, prescription strength as well as over-the-counter products. However, it would be a good idea to go for homemade chemical peels instead of these strong chemicals as they are much milder and pose less threat of causing any damage to the skin.

Mix together baking soda with water in a small sized bowl. Stir well till it is properly dissolved and then set aside. This works as a neutralizer for the acid. Next, place an aspirin inside a shallow dish and sprinkle some lemon juice all over it.

Aspirin comprises of salicylic acid whereas lemon juice contains citric acid. Lemon juice provides twofold benefits as it not only adds the exfoliating power of the citric acid into the peel, but it is also instrumental in dissolving the aspirin.

Crush the aspirin to a powder using a spoon and then mix well to form a thin paste. Adjust the amount of lemon juice, if required. Apply this paste on the facial skin using your fingers, making sure to avoid the eye area. Allow it to dry for about 10 minutes and then wipe off using a cotton ball soaked in the baking soda neutralizer that you have prepared before.
