1. Turmeric Paste

Turmeric contains antioxidant properties. For lightening and evening out the skin color, make a thick paste of turmeric using 2-3 tablespoons of ground turmeric mixed with milk and 2-3 spoons of gram flour. Use this paste as face pack. Wait till the pack gets dried on your facial skin, then rinse off with plain water. Repeating this treatment twice or thrice a week will remove the dark patches and soon you will get smooth and even colored skin.

2. Lemon Juice

Lemon juice is highly acidic and a great source of vitamin C. Using lemon juice on your facial skin can help to clear the dead cells and brighten up the skin by removing skin discoloration. Lemon juice is excellent for fighting free radicals. With the help of cotton balls, apply undiluted lemon juice on your discolored skin and wait till it gets dry. Regular application of lemon juice will give excellent results.

3. Orange Peel

Grind dried orange peels to make powder. Now prepare a fine paste by adding milk and honey. Apply this as face mask on your discolored skin. Wait for 15-20 minutes and wash your face with cool and clean water. Apply regularly for a month to get lighter and spotless skin.

4. Sandalwood

Skin discoloration and dark skin can also be treated effectively by mixing sandalwood powder with cucumber juice, lemon juice or tomato juice.

5. Tea Tree Oil

Those with reddish discolored skin can use tea tree oil to get rid of discoloration. The ingredients present in tea tree oil help to kill bacteria and rejuvenate the skin by removing the freckles and spots.

6. Potato Skin

Potato skin contains bleaching agents and is very helpful in treating skin discoloration. Grate potato with its skin and then apply its juice on your skin overnight.  Wash with lukewarm water in the morning. This will help to clear all the patches and dark spots and give you an even skin tone.

7. Baking Soda

Also known as sodium bicarbonate, baking soda is alkaline in nature. Prepare a paste of baking soda mixed with water and use as face mask or just rub it gently on your face. Wait for few minutes to let it dry and then rinse thoroughly with water.  It will exfoliate your skin and remove dead skin cells and bring fresh layers of skin on the surface. Most of these ingredients used for treating skin discoloration are generally safe, yet there are some like lemon juice that can irritate sensitive skin. Discontinue using the ingredient if it irritates your skin.
