8 Home Remedies For Cold Sores

Cold Sores

Falling sick is a human tendency, but the amount of pain and the treatment that follows could be quite stressful for the person. One common infection is a cold sore which appears as small blisters on the lips and around the mouth. In such an infection the blister may turn red and also bleed which may eventually turn into a scab and take at least 2-3 weeks to heal.

Cold sores are usually caused by a virus called herpes simplex virus, a virus which can enter the body due to various factors like coming into a physical contact with a similarly infected person. A cold sore may begin with pain around the mouth and lips, sore throat and at times swelling in certain areas of the body especially the neck region may get swollen.

While cold sores don’t need much of a treatment and tend to disappear on its own after a couple of weeks, treatment from a doctor may be required if it is too painful. The doctor may prescribe certain skin creams and tablets which may help the infection to subside. Certain home remedies if followed correctly can help heal the cold sores to a great extent.
