Sun can be harsh and brutal on skin no matter how much sunblock tubes and cream packs you apply. While most of the experts suggest not to stay out in sun after the onset of summers, that’s close to impossible and so are chances of getting sunburnt, especially for the ladies who love to flaunt their style and sexy curves wearing dresses that show skin. Sun’s infrared rays end up burning the skin causing tan and the ultraviolet rays worsens the condition by stimulating flare ups, rashes etc. That’s why we have come up with some safe and easy home remedies that will help you de-tan your sun kissed skin and say goodbye to sun-burn woes!
1. Red Tomatoes:
Tomatoes contain antioxidants that lessen skin inflammation and fight cellular damage. Lycopene in tomatoes make it a natural sunscreen. Tomatoes also help in closing open pores and preventing signs of aging. It imparts glow to skin and smooth out skin by removing dead cells. Its natural bleaching properties make it an ideal option for detanning skin.You may simply apply tomato pulp on skin for 20 minutes and rinse with luke warm water. Alternatively you can preapre a detanning face pack by mixing equal amount of tomato pulp and yogurt. Apply this face mask on skin for 30 minutes for best results.
2. Potato Juice:
Not good for tummy though, potato juice is quite beneficial for skin. Peeled, grated or juiced – potato is one of the best recommendations when it comes to detanning. For best results, mix equal quantities of potato juice and lemon juice and apply on skin for 30 minutes. Additionally potato juice soaked cotton pads can be kept over eyes for a soothing effect.
3. Lime and Sugar Scrub:
Lemon juice and sugar make an excellent detanning combination. While lemon juice has detanning and anti-blemish properties, sugar granules act as an exfoliator. Plus, making this detanning concoction is as easy as mixing together both of them in a bowl and applying on affected area in circular motion. Leave it on skin for 15 minutes and then wash off with water. In case you have a dry skin, add some glycerin to the mix.
4. Mashed Papaya:
Touted as an effective glow-getter, papaya contains enzymes that can naturally bleach the skin, smoothen it and make it radiant. To use papaya as a detanning remedy, mash a ripened papaya and apply on face for 30 minutes. Alternatively, you can cut a fresh papaya slice. Rub it on your face. Let its sticky juice work on your skin for 30 minutes. Rinse off with cool water.
5. Cucumber and Milk Mask:
While cucumber can reverse tanning and soothe sunburn, milk can nourish the skin and replenish the lost moisture. To use cucumber and milk as a remedy to curb tanning, mix equal quantities of cucumber juice and milk (preferably unboiled) in a small bowl and apply all over the tanned skin for 20 minutes. Rinse with cool water and pat dry.
6. Mashed Mango:
Mango has ascorbic acid which removes the tan from skin. Antioxidants in Mango treats pigmentation and bring back the lost glow due to tanning. Mango exfoliates the skin, cater the required nourishment and supplements the skin with required hydration. To avail benefits that mango offers for skin, simply mash a ripened mango and apply on face for 20 minutes. Follow with a cool water rinse.
