Halitosis which is very commonly known as the problem of bad breath is an issue that has haunted people for centuries. A most common fear among people is being caught with bad breath by friends or even worse, by a love interest. However, if halitosis is a chronic problem, it can have many serious consequences such as being ostracized, secretly teased or unable to get a date. Home Remedies For Halitosis
Baking Soda has amazing cleansing properties. The bad breath is mostly caused by plaque and bacteria growing due to it.
Take a pinch of baking soda and then rub a wet finger through your mouth cleansing your teeth and your tongue. Do this for about three minutes to remove any traces of bad breath.
Water is the easiest and simplest solution. Rinse by swishing water around your mouth. Do this for about 20 minutes. Ensure that it goes between the teeth and cleans all the particles that may be stuck. Spit and then gargle to clean the phlegm from the throat. Then spit and rinse once more. A cleaner mouth automatically means fresh breath.
Some fresh vegetables have cleansing properties. They are the ones that are crunchy and chewy. They go into the gaps between your teeth removing particles while cleaning with natural juices. Also, since they don’t contribute to plaque they don’t really cause bad breath either.
A quick fix to the problem would be chewing gum. This is not a long term fix. It can however, can fix the problem in case you are in a hurry. Ensure that it is a sugar free chewing gum though otherwise it may contribute to the plaque and cause bad breath again, forming a vicious cycle.
Using a good quality mouthwash is another good way to ensure that bad breath is a thing of the past. Put a small amount in your mouth and rinse for 20 seconds and then spit.
Do not swallow the mouthwash under any circumstances. A really good mouthwash can keep bad breath away for about two to three hours.
Some aromatic spices found in the kitchen also provide a really good solution to the issue. It may be something like a cardamom seed. One should be taken and put in a corner of the mouth. Then chew down on it till the juices escape and swirl the juices in the mouth. This will keep your breath smelling fresh for at least four to five hours.
