5 Simple Baking Soda Remedies For Blackheads

Simple Baking Soda Remedies For Blackheads

Blackheads are a type of dark acne lesion. Excess sebum secretion accompanied by overproduction of skin cells is responsible for this condition. The excess sebum and the dead skin cells clump together and block the pores. As blackheads, also known as open comedone, are not closed by a skin, the sebum that plugs the pore is exposed to the air, which oxidizes the sebum and turns it black in color. Among the various remedies available for removing blackheads, baking soda is known to be quite effective. Scrubbing the skin with baking soda helps in loosening the blackhead. Furthermore, baking soda helps in exfoliating the dead skin and assists in reducing excessive sebum secretion. It therefore helps in minimizing blackheads.

Here Is How You Can Easily Remove Blackheads With The Help Of Baking Soda:

1. Baking Soda And Water

Mix a tablespoon of baking soda with some water to make a paste.[1] Apply the paste to the affected area and massage for about 30 seconds. Rinse off with lukewarm water. With regular application, it helps in loosening the blackhead.

2. Baking Soda And Milk

Milk contains lactic acid that helps in dissolving the dead skin that clogs the pores.[2] Therefore, the combination of milk and baking soda is considered effective in removing blackhead. To a quarter cup of milk, add a tablespoon of baking soda. Thoroughly mix the two ingredients. With cotton apply the mixture to the affected area and rub for a few seconds. Rinse with lukewarm water. Repeat, if needed.

3. Baking Soda And Sugar

Mix a tablespoon of baking soda with equal amount of granulated sugar.[3] Add two tablespoons of water and thoroughly mix the ingredients. On damp skin, massage the mixture for about 30 seconds, focusing on the blackhead areas. Leave the mixture on the skin for a few minutes and then rinse with warm water.

4. Baking Soda And Lemon Juice

Combine baking soda with some lemon juice and use the mixture to clean your face especially the area affected by blackheads.[4] The astringent effect of lemon juice helps in tightening the pores and loosening the blackheads.
