Tone with Citrus Fruits and Sea Salt

To a cup of sea salt, add a cup of lemon juice, orange juice or grape juice and mix thoroughly to create a fresh and fruity salt scrub. The juice you’re using should be freshly squeezed and not from a bottle. For best results use this scrub immediately.

Treat Acne with Antiseptic Salt Scrub

Mix together 2 tablespoons of sea salt, a teaspoon of turmeric powder and 2 tablespoons of honey. Use this scrub over acne affected area.

Turmeric with its antiseptic properties is very effective in getting rid of acne as it destroys the acne causing bacteria. Honey present in the scrub moisturizes and hydrates skin giving it a velvety appearance. It also has antibacterial and inflammatory properties which help in acne control.

Any crusting that might have occurred due to the acne gets cleaned out by the salt. This scrub can be stored in a glass jar for about a month when refrigerated. The antiseptic scrub can be used on all skin types.

Create a firming Scrub with Egg whites, Lemon juice and Sea Salt

Whisk 2 egg whites and 2 tablespoons of lemon juice in a bowl until runny. Add to this mixture 3 to 4 tablespoons of sea salt and mix well. Do not let this scrub sit for too long in the mixing bowl as the egg white will start to dry up when exposed to air.

You may want to add egg yolks too, if you have dry skin.


Don’t fuss too much if you cannot find sea salt. The salt scrub can be created with kosher salt or even refined cooking salt. Sea salt is best because of its natural mineral content. Dead Sea salt is the most therapeutic. If you find sea salt too coarse for your skin, break it down in a blender.

For your skin to absorb the salt scrub better, cleanse with warm water or a warm damp towel. Indulging in a steam bath will produce optimum results. This way your pores will open up and the ingredients present in the salt scrub will penetrate your skin easily.

Always massage scrub gently to your face and body. Massage for a minimum of 10 to 15 minutes at least. Rinse of scrub completely with lukewarm water and then splash cold water all over your skin to tighten pores.
